Report on the Ministry of Grove Chapel, London

Grove Chapel, Camberwell

WRF Update

Grove Chapel, Camberwell is a thriving, multicultural congregation located in a very diverse community in South London. It has had a continuous witness on the same site for almost 200 years and through that time has seen a faithful Reformed ministry sustained through successive generations. With a congregation of around 150 worshipers, it seeks to reach out to the local area and more widely in South London and welcomes people from a wide range of social and ethnic backgrounds.

Currently, Grove Chapel is actively involved in the Passion for Life initiative – a UK-wide effort to get the gospel out in as many local communities as possible during Holy Week 2010. As part of the preparation for that we are organising monthly outreach events for the local community using different means to give people an opportunity to hear the gospel. The first of these events – Music, Food and the Meaning of Life – attracted about 120 people, many of whom were not Christians.

In March we are organising An Evening of Jazz and Gospel to reach out to the whole of South London. Ruth Naomi Floyd, composer and vocalist from Philadelphia, will sing at that event and Liam Goligher, Duke Street Church, Richmond, will speak. Do pray for these efforts to bring the good news of God’s grace to South London.
