Major Events at WRF Member Grove Chapel, Camberwell (London, England)
The week leading up to Easter was a significant time for Grove Chapel in that it marked the main thrust of the Passion for Life initiative in the UK. All over Britain local churches were reaching out with the gospel to their local communities. Here in Camberwell, South London, we sought to do that with around twenty different events and meetings all of which were designed to bring the message of salvation to different groups of people.
Two missioners – John Woodside and Billy Patterson – came over from Ireland to help us in this special effort. Using all kinds of venues, from a local pub to people’s homes, we were able to speak with a wide range of people who would not normally be in church and many of whom had never seriously considered the message of the Bible before.
Since Easter, the church faced a major development in its life and work. Its minister, Mark Johnston who has pastored Grove Chapel since 1994, received a call to Proclamation Presbyterian Church in suburban Philadelphia. In light of that, a Search Committee has now been set up with the task of looking for a new Pastor for the congregation. The Search Committee would welcome suggestions.
