WRF Member Jason Pickard Seeking God’s Guidance for the Future
On May 27, 2010, I graduated from Westminster Theological Seminary with my Master of Divinity Degree. I continue to work at Cresheim Valley Church, Presbyterian Church in America, which is in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia, while seeking a full-time call in a Reformed denomination. Our church is still a young church plant so this ministry experience has been invaluable. It is a privilege to be part of a new church and see how God does truly build Christ’s Church while a seminary student.
While believing the Lord is calling me to pastoral ministry, I was encouraged to pursue PhD studies by his seminary professors. I would love to do this and even was admitted to some very good schools, but these schools are not able to fully fund their students. Since pastoral ministry is my calling, my wife and I do not think large debt just to obtain a PhD is a wise choice though it is tempting, especially since I would be a TA for the dean of the divinity school at Trinity College, University of Toronto. Yet, the Lord’s plan is perfect and always good. I include this to ask for prayer for guidance, wisdom, and opportunity from whosoever may read this report—I would be very grateful for your prayers. I am greatly encouraged by the work of World Reformed Fellowship and continue to pray that God would use this ministry to build unity among Christ’s Church throughout the world.
