WRF Board Member Peterson Sozi Reports Results of Revival Meetings in Uganda

June 2, 2011
Kijebeejo - Kito Mission May 23 to 28, 2011

"And this Gospel of the Kingdom will be  preached in the whole world as a testimony to all Nations, and then the end will come." (Matt. 24;14).

Unlike Mr. Harold Camping and his emphatic prophesy that the end of the world would come on May 21, 2011, we rejoiced so much when the end never came on 21st and we had another opportunity to share the saving Gospel from May 23 to 28 in Kito sub country, Nakaseke District and 500 people were recorded, as those who repented their sins and invited Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of their lives!

This was the first time in this year to go out to win souls as the Back to God Evangelistic Team. FIFTY FOUR of us came from different Districts and churches, converged at Kijebeejo village, and for five days we shared the Gospel. We stayed in various rooms which we rented in a shopping area. This was such a great blessing because there are no public motels in this village but loving people came out of their houses and we occupied them. We were cooking in open air, fetching water from a village borehole and bathing in unique natural bath rooms. I hope you can imagine!

The great thing is that there was love among us and we also received great hospitality from the locals. We bought a small plantation of cassava and that is where some of us went every day to dig out tubers and a team of precious brothers and sisters cooked it for us all to eat. I was fasting during the day; while Sarah Sozi was just drinking water only and she is doing this for 40 days!! Remember her in your prayers. The whole mission was bathed in prayer and fasting. Every day, early, at around 5.30am we all would wake up for praise, worship and morning devotion.

We learned  a lot from each other and then from 10am soul winners would go out two by two, witnessing to every one from house to house and from person to person. Many people  come to the Lord in this way, it is very effective and it is done in a great loving manner. When every body comes back, reports are given of what has happened, then have late lunch and then prepare for evening open air mass evangelism. We saw great harvests in both these approaches and 500 converts were recorded to the glory of God!!

I would like to share some highlights; a woman who has been depressed and not wanting to see anybody for three years invited the evangelists to her house and she gave her life to Jesus. She was seen smiling after receiving the new birth.

Parents of young twins (the mother sells the local brew and the father sells pork) allowed my wife and me to use their own bedroom for all those days. Their drunken customers would come near this room, always noisy and yet we were praying and fasting for the rest of the team. You remember Moses, praying with raised hands being helped by Aaron and Hur as Joshua fought the Amalekites. The last day God did a miracle for both Nalongo and Salongo (the parents of the twins) -  they both accepted Jesus and our ministry was able to provide financial support in order that Nalongo might start another business that does not involve the sale of alcohol.

A Muslim man riding a motorcycle heard that the soul winners were in the village, so what he did was to ride around looking for them because he desperately wanted to surrender to Jesus. He found them and asked that they accompany him to his home where all his Muslim relatives and parents were. They went to his home and there he confessed that he had tried witchcraft to an extent of becoming a witch doctor but life was still miserable. In the presence of his relatives, he confessed Jesus as Savior . Glory be to God!

It is very important that we follow up these new converts and what we decided was to invite some of these converts to come to the farm from June 14 to16th, to receive elementally teachings of their faith in Christ. We shall be sending our truck to fetch them. We are doing this for the first time.  Please pray for this effort.

Pray for Dr. Max Solbrekken from Canada who will be joining us in a Kampala City wide evangelistic crusades from September 13 to 18, 2011.

And in a special way, please pray for four of us from Uganda who have been invited to share the Gospel  in Israel from November 6 to 25, 2011. This will be our first time to send a ministry team to Israel instead of mere tourism.

Shalom.
